Tree trimming by an ISA-certified arborist, Calgary
A well-shaped tree is a better canvas for lights. Our ISA-certified arborist can trim your trees before we light them, or on their own, roughly September to May.
Why trim before the lights go up?
Trimming first gives a tree a better shape, takes out problem branches and leaves a cleaner structure for the lights to follow. A well-shaped tree is a better canvas.
A better shape
Shaped before it's lit, so the tree's outline reads cleanly from the street.
Problem branches out
Problem branches come out before the lights go on, not after.
A cleaner structure to light
The wraps follow clean lines along the trunk and main branches.
Looks good all year
A well-shaped tree looks good in every season, lit or not.
When we trim, and how it's quoted
When do you trim trees?
Roughly September to May, while trees are dormant or heading into dormancy.
More detail
Trimming a dormant tree is easier on it, and with the leaves off, the branch structure is easy to see, so it's clear what should come out.Can I book trimming on its own?
Yes. Trimming is available on its own, outside Christmas season too, whether or not you book lights with us.
How is tree trimming quoted?
As a separate quote, apart from any lights. Tell us about your trees and we'll get back to you.

Tree trimming questions
Should I trim my trees before putting up Christmas lights?
In Calgary, trimming before the Christmas lights go up is optional, but it gives a tree a better shape, takes out problem branches and leaves a cleaner structure for the lights to follow. Our ISA-certified arborist trims roughly September to May, while trees are dormant or heading into dormancy: it's easier on the tree, and with the leaves off, it's clear what should come out. Trimming is quoted separately from any lights, and you can book it on its own.
