The Light Elves is a family-run Calgary company that does one thing: holiday lighting. Our Elves design a display for your home, custom-build the lights, hang every strand, and come back in spring to take it all down.
Professional 5 mm contractor-grade mini lights, with a twinkle option. Four kinds of tree, each wrapped the way that suits it.

Rooflines
We build every strand for your home: E17 wire cut to the length of each roofline, fitted with G30 globes in the colours you pick. Then our Elves hang each run straight and even, from the garage to the highest peak.
Tree wraps
Our Elves wrap each tree the way its shape suits, in professional 5 mm contractor-grade mini lights: branch by branch, around a full canopy, or from base to tip on spruce and pine. Pick a steady glow or a twinkle.
Takedown
Every seasonal install includes the takedown. Enjoy your lights all season, unplug them whenever you're done, and our Elves come back to take them down once the weather allows, January to about April 1. Pick your month when you book.

Peak-season installs run November to mid-December, and the calendar fills quickly, so request your estimate soon. Takedowns run January to about April 1, weather permitting.

Book as early as you can: in Calgary, booking opens in September, and Early Bird installs run mid-September to the end of October. Early is better for the lights, the weather is generally better for installing, and you can leave them unplugged until you want them on. Peak season runs November to mid-December. Waiting for November? Pricing is higher in peak season, and the cold is harder on the strands. Early bird access closes Thanksgiving Monday.
In Calgary, our seasonal Christmas light installation is $7/ft of roofline in your first year, then $2/ft each year after to reinstall the same lights, with a $250 minimum installation charge and takedown in spring at 40% of the installation amount. The first-year rate is $5/ft for the lights we custom-build for your home, which you keep, plus $2/ft to install them, so returning years cost much less. Each roofline break or dormer adds a one-time $17 extension cord, and trees are quoted from a photo of your tree. Your final quote comes after the Elves review your home on Google Street View and your photos, using these same rates.
For houses, G30 globe bulbs on custom-built E17 strands, on white or black wire. G30s are UV protected, so they don't yellow, shatter or crack as easily, and they keep their clarity. For trees, professional 5 mm contractor-grade mini lights, with a twinkle option. We buy them from a Canadian lighting supplier.
Yes. Every colour combination and pattern is designed for your home, unlike box-store systems with predetermined patterns. Tell us what you love when you request your estimate, and our Elves will help you design it.
You pick a preferred takedown month (January, February, March, or the end of March / early April), not an appointment. Takedowns are weather dependent. Removing strands in extreme cold can crack the wire and plastic, so our Elves wait for suitable conditions. Unplug your lights whenever you're done enjoying them. Our Elves remove them once conditions are right.
Contractor-grade lights from The Light Elves are fully warrantied for 5 years when you use our seasonal setup and takedown service. Our full fix-up service applies only to The Light Elves' contractor-grade lights. Warranty touch-ups must be reported before December 20.
